Fu Manchu's GIGANTOID was my album of the year.  Thier best since "Go For It... Live!"  It's a very LIVE sounding album so that explains it.  The live version of Fu Manchu is everything you want in a live rock performance- well, ok there's no KISS makeup and firework explosions in thier show.  They don't need it, the fireworks all happen in the music and the performance.  GIGANTOID rules.  Pick it up.  If you like rock music, heavy music, or just plain fun and loud music, you'll be stoked.

Other picks:
Brant Bjork- Black Power Flower
Radio Moscow- Magical Dirt

Those were fun.
On a Funkadelic kick. The early albums sound so good.  I want the whole discography.
Funkadelic- The Electric Spanking of War Babies.  Makin' my day.

Funkadelic- The Electric Spanking of War Babies.   Simply amazing.

The Albums of the Decade

The 2000s were a rough decade for rock music... Thankfully, some good bands held it down, kept it real and still made enjoyable music amidst all of the virtual chaos.

In the last ten years, these records helped me through the high tides and the low blows. I'm still playing them over and over again. All of these releases showed tremendous artistic expression, thorough vision of concept and and songwriting beyond my comprehension... Enjoy.

1. Queens of the Stone Age Songs for the Deaf
2. Astra The Weirding
3. Drunk Horse Adult Situations
4. Brant Bjork and The Bros Saved by Magic
5. Early Man Closing In
6. Howlin Rain Magnificent Fiend
7. Witchcraft The Alchemist
8. Fu Manchu California Crossing
9. Cauldron Chained to the Nite
10. Danava Unonou
